The new underground heat storage in Czech Republic is being constructed in the rock environment with the intention of testing reactions of the rock environment on different heat and time regimes. This storage may lessen energy consumption for heating and air conditioning purposes.
The Green Gas DPB company embarked on constructing the underground heat storage in its complex in Paskov. The pilot project was prepared in cooperation with the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava and the DHI, Ltd. It is aimed at verifying the option of seasonal heat storage placed in the rock environment and its further utilization in district heating systems.
