Are you interested in the possibilities of solar district heating, but do not know where to start? Do not worry; a series of fact sheets explain each part of the process and the technology behind it. Download the entire fact sheet collection or pick one out describing a specific topic.
The fact sheets describe what to be aware of and how to proceed when considering investing in a solar district heating plant – from the idea is formed until the actual plant is constructed and operating. Besides the ‘non-technical’ subjects (such as the necessary preliminary investigations, permissions, tendering, contracts and guarantees), the fact sheets describe plant design, components and the control of the operating plant.
By splitting the guidelines into fact sheets – each consisting of a few pages – the reader can easily get a quick overview of the different topics and pick out the fact sheet(s) with the desired information. That being said, the guidelines may also be used as a ‘read through’-report if the reader wants a broader perspective on solar energy used for district heating.
A project group with considerable experience in terms of planning, installing and operating solar district heating systems, have created the guidelines in collaboration with external experts from the industry. This means that the result benefits from the knowledge of technical institutes, private consultant companies, pipe manufacturers, solar collector manufacturers and district heating associations from across Europe.
By describing the technology and the implementation steps (and how to overcome potential obstacles during implementation), these guidelines will make it clear that solar heating technology is a realistic and proven option for utilities and investors. Enjoy the reading. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact one of the project partners.
