The new code to the German 'Marktanreizprogramm' (MAP) for renewable energies offers interesting new incentives for solar district heating and solar process heat.
In August 2012, the new code to the 'Marktanreizprogramm' was published by the Federal Ministry for the Environment. For the first time it foresees a specific and improved incentive for large solar thermal plants connected to district or block heating nets. The incentive is offered as loan by the KfW-Bank with a reduction of
40 % of the loan pay-back. Also the district heating network can benefit from specific incentives in case the share of solar heat in the network is more than 20 %.
Moreover, a recent study by the German solar industry association BSW, indentified a significant potential for low temperature industrial and commercial process heat in Germany. Already, the corresponding incentive of up to 50 % of the investment costs appears in the new version of the market stimulation program.
