Great success for SOLID Invest: Kick-off for Austria´s first solar civic participation project

Unique Austrian Civic Participation Model for solar thermal plants has almost reached its limit of 1.5 Mio Euro Investments.

SOLID started its successful investment model SOLID Invest end of last year. The investment scheme promotes systems based on Energy Service and Contracting (ESCo) models for solar thermal installations.  It is the first time that a solar thermal plant can be financed on a crowd funding basis. At present, the final investment goal of 1.5 Mio Euro is almost reached.

Environmental conscious investors have had the chance to invest into solar thermal energy since November 2013–with lucrative 4.5 % interest rate per year. Any investments into SOLID support to realize new solar thermal plants, in Austria and worldwide. The invested money is also bounded to real properties which are already existing or under construction.

The construction process of the first solar thermal plant with crowd funding started in February 2014. SOLID is going to install an innovative, new large solar thermal plant for the company AVL List GmbH in Graz. AVL List GmbH is specialized on the development of power train systems for vehicles with internal combustion engines, simulations as well as engine instrumentation and test systems.

According to SOLID´s CEOs Christian Holter and Franz Radovic, ‘The large solar plant at AVL List GmbH isn´t our biggest ESCo project, but it is the first ESCo contract within the industrial sector.’
Pioneering projects like this one are funded by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fond, as SOLID´s projects are known for their innovative feature.

Beside the AVL List GmbH, future investments from the crowd funding model will support the largest solar thermal plant in Middle Europe with Austria´s largest hot water storage in upper Austria as well as the enlargement of the collector area at the solar project UWC Singapore. More information
